What is the objective?
To get a sense of the learning assets you currently have. At Obsidian Learning we strongly believe in not reinventing the wheel. Clarity around what can be used, re-used, transformed or created is a critical first step. Understanding the target audience is also foundational to the success of a program.

How is it done?
Simple. Whether we do it for a single course or a robust learning program, our Learning Strategists systematically review the content you want to convert into virtual learning. This can range from a rapid analysis to a comprehensive look from all angles (company culture, target audience, historical preferences, business goals and strategies, etc.).

Yes! Many of our clients conduct the content and target audience analysis themselves and we work from there. This short checklist will get you started. What is the objective?
The success of virtual learning programs largely depends on their design. In this step, we create a blueprint of the learning program (or the eLearning deliverable) with all its components and how they will interact.

How is it done?
Simple. Based on the framework analysis, an Obsidian Learning strategist creates a Virtual Learning Design Document which outlines the pieces we can use “as is,” with rework, or to be created from scratch. We look at learning objectives and devise the detailed learning strategy to best address them. This is carefully crafted to multiply learning synergies between each component of the virtual learning program (or within a single eLearning course), and to address all levels of learning objectives from knowledge to skills to attitudes.

Can you do it?
Yes! If you are familiar with the theory and application of Blended Learning in adult learners, you can create a basic Blended Learning program. If you need assistance with the virtual component–or with adding social learning, gamification, scenario-based learning, or any other aspect—we can help. What is the objective?
The objective is to effectively deliver the virtual learning program (or an individual virtual learning deliverable) to your target audience, and get feedback to ensure it’s working.

How is it done?
Simple. Using your existing infrastructure Obsidian Learning will support you in creating an intuitive virtual program map and user-friendly virtual program structure. In the absence of a facilitator, virtual learning assets need to be organized in a clear and concise fashion. On many of our virtual learning projects, Obsidian Learning recommends a simple learning portal, learning hub or even a web application to seamlessly deliver the virtual learning program.

Evaluation is enabled through ranking or social learning elements such as discussion or feedback boards, if your company’s technology supports them. If not, there are many other ways to get learner input and evaluate the success of courses and programs. Can you do it?
Yes! Before you upload individual virtual learning pieces into your LMS, imagine how learners will look for, find, and launch courses. Organize the content in a way that seems natural to the learner (e.g., from beginner to expert level). Create a simple learning map to give the learner a birds eye view of the program.
